Karamay local rock and roll band "Metoo" released its second album Frankenstein in both China and the United States on Oct 1.
The band "Metoo" was founded by Lu Zi, a Karamay musician, in 2007. After eight years of development, it has established its musical style, which combines the elements of psychedelic and post rock and performed in more than 20 cities across China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou and Wuhan. The band also took the stage in 2015 Strawberry Musical Festival, one of the largest music festivals in China, last May.
"Releasing the album in both China and the US is an attempt to bring Chinese rock music to a broader stage. We also wish to communicate with more foreign musicians to get more inspiration and up-to-date concepts for our future songs," said Luan Jinfeng, the band manager.
The new album was issued on vinyl. "Vinyl discs are used for a higher tone quality as well as higher collection value for music lovers," said Lu Zi.
A total of 1,000 pieces of the album were put on sale, including 300 in China. Apart from China and the US, Frankenstein also entered the music markets in Australia and Japan.
Lu Zi said that the band will release more new songs after future performances. He also tipped that the group is planning to include his hometown Karamay in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in Metoo's 2016 tour schedule.
