A total of 14 kindhearted people from Karamay Youmiao Public Welfare Association claimed their funding children at Karamay No1 Primary School, in Yumin Village, Tacheng county, Karamay, on Sept 11, the Karamay Daily reported.
Donators asked about the family situation of the children and presented children with some stationery. Later, they signed the support agreement with the parents and took photos with the children.
The activity was sponsored by the Karamay district publicity department, the education bureau and the volunteers association. The Youmiao Association funded 15 poor students from three primary schools in both Tuoli county and Yumin county. The beneficiaries are of Uygur, Han, Kazak and Hui ethnicities. After being claimed, each child will get 200 yuan ($31.48) per month as a cost-of-living subsidy. The program is tentatively scheduled for one year.
Meanwhile, the association donated 2000 yuan for a student in No 3 primary school in Tuoli County and donated outdoor kindergarten play equipment to Xinlin Primary School.
The Youmiao Public Welfare Association was registered at the civil affairs bureau in March this year. It now has more than two hundred members, most of whom are ordinary workers with average salaries. To date, the association has aided dozens of poor families and students both in and out of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
