SEF chairman meets with delegation from Wudang Mountains

Lin? Join-sane, chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), met with a delegation from the Wudang Mountains at a welcoming ceremony held on Oct 17 in Taiwan's Xinbei city to greet the arrival of Wudang's 600-year-old Xuan Wu statue.

The statue of Xuan Wu, one of the highest-ranking Taoist deities, will tour around Taiwan's temples until Nov 5.

Lin said that the event will help promote Chinese traditional culture, increase cross-Straits communication and enhance friendship between the two sides.

On the same day, a forum on Xuan Wu faith and Taoist culture, a cross-Straits painting and calligraphy exhibition, and a Wudang photography exhibition were also held.

The forum invited Zhang Jiyu, vice-president of the Chinese Taoist Association, and some other Taoist experts from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan to talk about Taoist culture.

The painting and calligraphy exhibition displayed over 60 works by 30 artists from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. They continued to share insights on painting and calligraphy after the exhibition. Li Qimao, a 98-year-old renowned painter in Taiwan, wrote an inscription and drew a picture during the exhibition.

In addition, the photography exhibition helped Taiwan people better understand the profound Taoist culture and Wudang's splendid scenery.
