Berth productivity at Tianjins Five Continents International Container Terminal – whose berth productivity averaged 119 container moves per hour (mph) in 2012 - last year averaged 119 container moves per hour (mph) – and it has been hailed as the most effective terminal in China, and second among all its counterparts worldwide, according to rankings recently published by the Journal of Commerce (JOC).
JOCs rankings are based on data given by 17 ocean carriers, from which itwhich it used to analyzed more than 100,000 port calls made at 600 terminals and 400 ports during calendar year 2012, and. This enabled JOC to thus measured productivity through a formula that divides the total container moves by the number of hours during which the vessel is at berth.
