Taishan specialties such as jade carvings, Feicheng mahogany artworks and tea were displayed at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai from Nov 5-10, attracting significant attention.

Taishan jade carvings are one of Shandong's most well-known time-honored brands as well as an intangible cultural heritage item.

Taishan jade, or Mount Tai jade, is one of the "four treasures" of Tai'an, Shandong province, along with Mount Tai tea, Mount Tai hemp, and Feicheng (a county-level city of Tai'an) mahogany.

With a history of more than 6,000 years, the jade has long been associated with safety, good luck, and the warding off of evil spirits.

The expo provided a comprehensive platform for companies from around the world to enrich their business ties and strengthen trade amid the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The third CIIE was notably larger in scale than last year's expo, with the total business exhibition space at this year's event being some 30,000 square meters larger than last year’s.

The business exhibition area was divided into six sections – food and agricultural products, automobiles, consumer goods, medical equipment and healthcare products, and trade in services.

According to the CIIE Bureau, the number of Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders participating this year was up 14 percent year-on-year. Dozens of said companies have attended the expo for three consecutive years.
