The head of China's top court called for all staff members of different levels to better learn and implement the spirit of the working report delivered at the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Zhou Qiang, chief justice and president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) of China, made the remarks when joining the discussions of the Shanghai delegation on the afternoon of Oct 18.

Zhou said all court staff should learn about the working report and make a greater contribution to the building of a socialist country under the rule of law.

In the discussion, Zhou also reviewed China’s progress in implementing the rule of law and enforcing judicial reform, saying that courts of various levels in the country are working hard to achieve the goal of “l(fā)etting the people feel fairness and justice in every single case”.

China’s courts are deepening judicial openness - setting up platforms to give the public free access to trial processes, judgment documents, and enforcement information - to build an open, dynamic, transparent and people-oriented judicial mechanism.

Smart courts that employ information technology in all aspects are promoting inter-connectivity and data sharing to increase trial quality and public benefit.

China's first court specializing in handling of internet-related disputes was set up in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on August 18 to explore positive new trial procedures.
