The Collaborative Innovation Center of Extreme Optics at Shanxi University has recently been recognized by the Ministry of Education as one of the first provincial-ministerial joint collaborative innovation centers in China.

Taking Shanxi University as the leading unit, the Collaborative Innovation Center of Extreme Optics was jointly founded by several top universities, research institutes and high-tech companies in January 2015.

The center, with 153 full-time members has four extreme optics-related innovation platforms based on five national key laboratories at Shanxi University, two key labs of the Ministry of Education at Nankai University, and professionals from the National Natural Science Foundation and Ministry of Education.

Focusing on the frontiers and key technological issues in the extreme optics field, the center carries out research on new physics, different phenomena, technologies and devices under extreme conditions –– working for breakthroughs in optical field control and light-matter interaction under extreme conditions. The center also trains professionals for China's optics sector to meet the country’s needs in the aerospace, information security and biomedicine industries.
