Doctor Zhang Xiangping from the Process Engineering Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) gave a lecture on the cleaning technique of ionic liquid at Shanxi University (SXU) on March 31.

The speech mainly focused on the background of ionic liquid research, the challenge for its design work as well as the innovation and application of cleaning technologies. Zhang also used CO2 and CH4 as examples to demonstrate the latest discovery of ionic liquid's efficiency in absorbing gases.

During the lecture, Zhang also introduced the development of CAS's process engineering institute and its cooperation with SXU in training new scientists.

Zhang Xiangping is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the institute of process engineering at CAS. Her major research interests include green chemical engineering, chemical thermodynamics and ionic liquid. She has made great achievements in the chemical field, including filing over 50 domestic patents and four international patents.
