The municipal tourism bureau of the city of Datong, Shanxi province, has reported that it received 312,700 foreign tourists, this past year, for a year-on-year increase of 12.71 percent, and 23,245,600 Chinese, an increase of almost 23 percent. Total revenues from tourism for the year exceeded 20 billion yuan, an increase of 23.03 percent over 2012's.

The city's tourism business had its focus on stable growth for last year, and increasing domestic response by restructuring and changing and increasing publicity and capital input to establish its own “Beautiful Shanxi, beautiful Datong” brand.
