Shanxi will boost its construction sector by encouraging the development of prefabricated buildings across the province in 2019, with the aim of getting prefabricated structures to be used for 10 percent of all new buildings.
According to Shanxi Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the target for the proportion of prefabricated structures in Taiyuan and Datong cities will be 20 percent.
Renewable energy application in construction is also encouraged, with a target for 50 percent of new buildings to be powered with renewable sources of energy from this year. Solar water heating systems will be used in public buildings and in the top 12 floors of high residential buildings.
In addition, Shanxi will start construction of facilities for construction waste utilization and set a goal that each city’s utilization rate of construction waste reaches 15 percent during 2019. Construction waste will be classified in delivery and disposal.
