Lyuliang city in North China’s Shanxi province has secured 36 large investment and cooperation projects, which were signed at the First Lyuliang Food Trade Fair held in the city from April 20 to 22.
Under a theme of “creating characteristic product brands, promoting agricultural development”, the fair served as a platform to encourage more domestic businesses to participate in the development and promotion of the agricultural industry and food processing sector of Lyuliang city, as well as to help the city develop its rural tourism industry.
The three-day fair attracted over 160 businesses to seek cooperation opportunities, while displaying around 370 categories of products including wine, potatoes, poultry?and coarse cereals in a 20,000-square-meter exhibition area.
A total of 36 investment projects valued at 21.35 billion yuan ($3.39 billion) were signed on the second day of the fair, including five planting projects, one rural tourism project and 16 agricultural product processing projects.
High-quality agricultural products and preferential policies have laid a solid foundation for Lyuliang city to embrace more opportunities.
Lyuliang sits on the east of the Loess?Plateau, and features a unique agricultural environment with a large temperature difference between day and night, plenty of sunshine and sandy soil, which makes Lyuliang the idea place to produce agricultural products such as walnuts, coarse?cereals?, red jujubes and potatoes.
The planting areas of coarse cereals in Lyuliang cover 2 million mu (133,333 hectares), accounting for one fifth of the total planting areas in Shanxi province. Meanwhile, the planting areas of red jujubes and walnuts have reached 1.6 million mu and 2 million mu respectively.
In addition, the annual output of sea-buckthorn has reached 32 million kilograms, which is deep processed as 20 categories of sea-buckthorn juice and jam, and is sold in 20 cities across the country.
In addition, to create a better business environment to attract investment and cooperation, the government of Lyuliang city vowed to simplify administrative examination and approval procedures; and provide better public services to help businesses solve problems with their operations.
