Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi province, has decided to take advantage of its comfortable climate to build a "Cool Taiyuan, summer resort" brand and an economic bright spot, by holding various brand promotion activities.

Taiyuan sits along the middle reaches of the Fenhe River and has a temperate continental monsoon climate, with average annual temperatures of 9.5 ℃, with plenty of pleasant weather and sunshine all year round, without extreme cold or heat spells. Average summer temperature is 20.3 ℃, with July's being only about 27. The night and daytime differences are often above 10 ℃, making the city a good summer resort.

The municipal tourism bureau is making a short video about its tourism resources with "Cool Taiyuan" being a major part and it is expected to be shown on China's most popular websites by the end of August. To publicize its new tourist routes, there will be advertisements for the tourism brand as well as tourism brochures, available in hotels, to provide further information. And, the tourist agencies will be organizing their own activities in cities that are suffering from the summer heat, to promote the summer tourist routes.

To increase brand awareness of the city as a good summer resort, Taiyuan will be holding exhibitions, investment fairs, culture expos, and sports events as well, again with the focus on "Cool Taiyuan", for some time to come.
