The 13th China Pingyao International Photography Festival is set for the old city of Pingyao, Shanxi province, Sept 19 - 25, with the work of 1,600 designers and photographers from 32 countries and regions on display.
The festival will consist of 16 sections, with “images oriented to life” as the theme of the exhibitions, as well photography now and in the future serving as the academic theme of the festival.
The festival will bring many photographers to this small city, with some top representatives of five Latin American countries coming for the first time. Two of the world’s top photographers, Roger Ballen and Drew Gardner, will put in an appearance.
Also, Zhang Zudao, a prominent Chinese photographer, will exhibit his work on the festival. There will be a round-table conference of the Asia Pacific PhotoForum (APP), an Asia-Pacific group, for the first time, for a discussion on developments in photography in the Asia-Pacific region.
The festival was started 12 years ago and has become a communication site for many areas, including academic as well as forms closer to daily life.
