Located in Central China, not far away from Beijing, Shanxi province has a very convenient transportation network. There are many national highways and railways connecting neighboring provinces.

Air There are four airports in Shanxi, namely Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, Datong Airport, Changzhi Wangcun Airport and Yuncheng Guangong Airport.

The Taiyuan Wusu International Airport is the main aviation transport hub. The airport has domestic routes connecting Shanxi to 28 cities including Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu and Chongqing, and international routes to Singapore, Japan and Russia.

Datong Airport has opened some non-stop flights to several big cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Wuhan, Haikou, Urumqi, Nanjing, Changchun and Xi'an.

Railway

Shanxi has extensive railways linking neighboring provinces. Travelers can get to most of China’s large and medium-sized cities .

The province also have extensive rail network to coastal cities such as Qinhuangdao in Hebei province, Qingdao in Shandong province, and Lianyungang in Jiangsu province.

Highway

The highway in Shanxi has five hubs, namely, Taiyuan, Datong, Changzhi, Linfen and Houma. Travelers can get to Taiyuan from Yuanping directly by highway, so as from Datong to Beijing. The highway between Taiyuan and Mount Wutai opened in 2010.
