Jiading district determined last year to make every effort to boost development of four major emerging industries.

The four emerging industries are integrated circuit and internet of things (IoT), new energy vehicle and automobile intellectualization, high-end medical equipment and precision medicine, and intelligent manufacturing and robots.

The district managed to provide a good industry environment and various supports so that enterprises in the four fields achieved rapid development, with integrated circuits and the IoT being the fastest ones. The four major emerging industries created a total output value of 45.09 billion yuan ($6.73 billion) in 2018.

A batch of major enterprises, such as Shanghai Internet of Things Co Ltd, Shanghai Simgui Technology Co Ltd, and Hesai Tech, which had recently developed third-generation solid-state LIDAR products, boosted the overall development of integrated circuits and the IoT in Jiading. The National Intelligent Sensor Innovation Center and ComNav Beidou High-tech Industry Park, based in Jiading, also helped to attract more enterprises to develop those industries.

The output value of the four major emerging industries is expected to exceed 30 billion yuan in 2019, according to Yu Jianhua, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jiading industrial zone.

The confidence results from the 38 industrial projects which were recently signed with total investment of 18.5 billion yuan. The incubation base project of mobile energy will cover the fields of aerospace, aviation, semiconductors, intelligent manufacturing, and solar industry equipment, and is expected to make an annual output value of 3.9 billion yuan.

The district also strove to develop intelligent IoT and planned to set up a sensor industrial park which would engage in the design, development, testing and massive production of sensor chips. China Powertech (Group) made an initial investment of 10 billion yuan to jointly build a global highland of informatization with Shanghai.
