A total of 13 deals with aggregate investment of more than 2 billion yuan ($309.55 million) were inked in Jiading New City, Jiading district, Shanghai on Jan 12.

The arrival of such a large number of projects attributes to the new city's strong efforts in attracting investment and nurturing industries such as smart manufacturing, big home furnishing, massive health, and big finance.

One example is the TEEC Shanghai Center that started operation in June 2017. The center actively sought cooperation with TEEC Yangtze River Delta branch, Environmental Protection Alliance of Tsinghua, and TEEC Automotive Association and attracted a batch of top-notch institutions and enterprises to move in including Alibaba Innovation Center, Shanghai Weilin Automotive Supply Chain Management Co, Zilan Information Technology Co, and Gangshun Investment Management Co.

The new city has also put effots on building commercial areas for company headquarters and has hosted a variety of forums and salons to lure quality enterprises.

Additionally, the area has focused on improving its service quality. It has taken advantages from its information resource bases and big data technology to make sure of a precise match of industrial resources.

For instance, in 2017, after understanding expansion needs of Shanghai STEP Robotics Corp, local authorities immediately discussed with related departments and allocated 72 mu (4.8 hectares) of land for the company to build a robot industrialization base.

It also granted Amore Pacific Group China with 55 mu of land to build a national warehousing and distribution center, as the company intended to increase investment in China and enlarge localized production.

A leader at the Amore Pacific Group Shanghai expressed gratitude for the new city’s strong support to local enterprises.

During the signing ceremony, 204 outstanding enterprises were awarded and an exhibition area was also launched for them to display their excellence. Sun Lijian, a professor at School of Economics of Fudan University, was invited to give a keynote speech on the analysis of China's macro economy and industrial trends.
