The company is a Sino-Japanese joint venture established in February 1989. The Chinese investor was SAIC Motor and the Japanese investors were Koito and Toyota Tsusho Kaisha Ltd. The total investment was 18.48 billion yen, with registered capital of 6.6 billion yen. The investment was equally contributed by the Chinese and Japanese sides. The company occupies 124,688 square meters of land.
The company specializes in producing and selling all types of vehicle lamps, more than 500 varieties in all. Its main customers are Shanghai GM, Shanghai Volkswagen, Guangzhou Aeolus, Faw-Toyota, Chang'an Ford, Chang'an Isuzu, Chery, Faw-Volkswagen, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Jeep, Dongfeng Yueda, Nanjing Iveco and Sichuan Toyota. In addition, the company has been expanding its international market and now has more than 40 product varieties being exported to North America and Japan.
In 2001, the company built a municipal "corporate technological center", and has been cited as Shanghai's advanced foreign-invested technological enterprise, high-tech enterprise, double-intensity enterprise, patent demonstration enterprise, one of China's top 500 machinery enterprises for 2004, one of China's top 100 auto parts suppliers for 2004, quality gold medal enterprise for 2005, winner of the first prize for corporate management innovation, winner of the first prize for the 12th national corporate management modernization and innovation award, and winner of the May 1st labor award.
Since 1999, the company began developing vehicle electronic lighting and undertaking major national research projects for the 10th Five-Year Plan. It also became a member of the National Semiconductor Lighting Association. So far, the company has formed capacities for independent product development and precision mould development. Each year, it made more than 200 special machines and pieces of equipment and at the same time formed advanced flexible production lines. Since 1996, the company has passed the ISO9002, ISO9001, ISO14001, QS9000, VDA6.1, VDA6.4, ISO/TS16949, ISO/IEC17025 and GB/T28001 certification. It has also established a scientific management system.
As its scale continues to expand, the company has launched a "lighting your future" program to offer honest, quality services to the customers.
