The biomedicine industry in Zhaoyuan city, Yantai, has received a welcome boost after authorities signed a cooperative agreement with Beijing Zhongguancun Biomedical Park.

The agreement will facilitate cooperation between the two sides in encouraging highly-skilled workers to locate there, and also in the research and development of new technologies and products.

Zhongguancun Biomedical Park, located in Zhangguangcun Science Park (Z-Park, China's Silicon Valley), already possesses a large number of highly-skilled workers, and biomedical companies.

Sun Fucun, mayor of Zhaoyuan city said at the signing ceremony that the Zhaoyuan government will take this opportunity to deepen its cooperation with Beijing Zhongguancun Biomedical Park in order to promote its biomedical industry.

Zhaoyuan, the county-level city in Yantai, has rolled out a series of policies to encourage the development of the local biomedical industry, including several related to the developing of bio-pharmaceuticals, medical equipment manufacturing, and training highly-skilled workers.

It also has built a biomedical industry park and initiated moves for related companies to locate there. Until 2020, policies will remain in place to further progress one of the city's most quickly developing industries.
