The mobile app publishing the latest news and information about Shandong province was released at an launching ceremony held in Jinan City, Shandong province on April 26.

The mobile application, entitled "Touch Shandong", is aimed to promote the image of Shandong to the world. It is available as a free download from mobile app stores and supports both Apple and Android devices.

As the province's authoritative external publicity platform, the app has columns such as Headline, Shandong News, Municipal News, Photos, Lohas, Shandong Business and Special Reports, as well as some distinctive columns including Press Conference and Confucius-Mencius Culture, releasing news in multi-languages such as Chinese, English, Korean and Japanese.

Wang Shinong, deputy of the Publicity Department of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, presided over the ceremony and said that "Touch Shandong" is one of the few external publicity mobile clients in China. It is expected to be a good storyteller to spread the positive voice of Shandong and add some vitality to Shandong's publicity work.

"Sdchina.com, as the sponsor of the app, should manage well in the content construction and publicity of the application. The publicity departments at all levels in the province should take advantage of the application to inject new vitality and power in their publicity work", added Wang.

"Touch Shandong" app is a beneficial exploration for Shandong's external publicity in the innovation and utilization of new media and new technology. It will help to increase intimacy with new media users and attract netizens worldwide to pay attention to Shandong.

Attendees of the launching ceremony also included Sun Shougang, director of Publicity Department of Shandong Province, and Xia Geng, vice governor of Shandong province.
