Yantai is a key production area for drawnwork craftsmanship in China. Drawnwork, brought by European missionaries into China during the 19th century, enjoys a time-honored history.

Since the founding of China (1949), Yantai drawnwork, featuring a variety of techniques, has witnessed fast development. Now more than 500,000 artists are engaged in drawnwork. Local drawnwork products have been sold to more than 60 countries and regions.
