Jiaozhou city, situated in the coast of the Huanghai Sea, is bordered on the southeast by Jiaozhou Bay.

It has a land area of 1,210 square kilometers with 11 towns, 7 streets, 811 administrative villages, and 67 communities under its jurisdiction. It is home to 1.1 million inhabitants.

By the end of 2011, the city’s GDP reached 66.83 billion yuan with a growth of 15.8%, the general budget revenue of regional finance reached 3.43 billion yuan with a growth of 30%, the fixed asset investment reached 42.4 billion yuan with a growth of 23.7%, actually utilized domestic investment reached 9.32 billion yuan with a growth of 15.8%, foreign investment in place reached 420 million US dollars with a growth of 27%, export trade transaction reached 4.12 billion US dollars with a growth of 28.1%. The per capita income for urban residents reached 25,405 yuan with a growth of 14.5% and that for rural residents reached 12,318 yuan with a growth of 18.1%.
