A weekly Sri Lankan broadsheet, Sunday Times, recently launched a special issue for China's 68th National Day to extend congratulations to overseas Chinese in Sri Lanka.

The newspaper set up a special POWERCHINA column, which gave a detailed overview of the company's strengths, qualifications, and achievements.

The special issue stated that POWERCHINA ranked 190th on the Fortune Global 500 list in 2017. The company does business in more than 80 countries and regions around the world. It ranked 10th among 225 international engineering contractors, and 17th among 150 international design companies.

POWERCHINA, established in September 2011, has actively implemented the "big group, big market, and big brand" strategy.

It has strived to become an international leader in the clean renewable energy and water conservancy construction industries, providing integrated, comprehensive infrastructure construction services.

It is a world-class comprehensive construction group with strong international competitiveness.

The special issue detailed high-level visits and cultural exchanges between China and Sri Lanka since 2017.

It also published pictures of key projects undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, including a water well project, the K Dam project, and the M Dam project.

The M Dam (Morogahakanda Dam), commonly known as as the "Three Gorges Project in Sri Lanka", is the signature project of POWERCHINA, and also a significant testament to China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena visited the M Dam three times and offered high praise.

The K Dam (Kaluganga Dam) is the second hydropower project following the M Dam. It began construction on April 2, 2014. About 65 percent of the main project has been completed.

The Southern Expressway is expected to become Sri Lanka's busiest traffic route upon completion.

The construction of a water supply network in Colombo, Sri Lanka's largest port business center, is expected to reduce the high percentage of non-revenue water in the urban area and reduce the loss of non-revenue water in the project area from the current 49 percent to 18 percent.
