The Dandong airport terminal renovation and expansion project has finished after three years of construction, Dandong Daily reported on Thursday. The building will serve as a new landmark for the city.
With interior decorations unfinished, the waiting hall still looks bright and spacious. When completed, it is expected to have an annual handling capacity of two million passengers and will be able to transport 900 passengers per hour at peak.
At present, Dandong airport has only three domestic air routes: Dandong-Shanghai-Shenzhou, Dandong-Beijing and Dandong-Qingdao-Shanghai. The city will establish new domestic flights to Tianjian, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Yantai when the new terminal is put into use.
International flights to the Republic of Korea, Japan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will also be launched according to schedule.
