Guests of "Yalu River Friends" academician fellowship society visited Dandong scenic spots to appreciate the city's unique historical culture on Sept 28.
"This is an open and vigorous city, Dandong has great potentials," said Xia Jianbai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, on his first visit of the city.
Although many academicians and experts were over 60-years old, they showed great interests in sightseeing around the city. Wang Mingquan, president of College of Information and Communication Engineering, North University of China, told a reporter that he had been to Dandong many times.
Attracted by the city's natural environment and customs when he first came to Dandong 15 years ago, he established a long-term partnership with a local testing device company, whose products have been applied by more than 200 factories nationwide.
Guests also appreciated the scenery of Kuandian Water Mouth scenic spot.
"I heard about Dandong's booming instrument industry and have been looking forward to visiting it. It's great to have a chance visiting Dandong and the Dandong Top Electronics Instrument Company," said Li Jiachun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who plans to partner with a local company to establish a scientific research institution for the development of the city's instrument industry.
Hundreds of Five-Starred Red Flags decorated the Yalu River Broken Bridge to welcome the guests during the National Day holidays.
