On June 30, a new air route was formally opened connecting Dandong, Qingdao and Shanghai.
The Dandong-Qingdao-Shanghai (Hongqiao Airport) flight is run by China Eastern Airlines with a Boeing 737 once on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The plane takes off at 6:40 pm at Dandong Airport, stops at Qingdao Airport at 8:15 pm, and arrives at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport at 11:00 pm. Meanwhile, a scheduled flight leaves Shanghai Hongqiao Airport at 12:30 pm, stops at Qingdao Airport at 14:55 pm and arrives at Dandong Airport at 4:20 pm the same days each week.
The operation of the Dandong-Qingdao-Shanghai scheduled flight will draw near Dandong with the Shandong peninsula and facilitate business contacts and communication between the two places. Shandong peninsula, a distributing center of Korean businesses, will contribute to opening Dandong to the outside world. Along with existing flights to Shanghai, Dandong has had one flight to Shanghai each day. This will also promote economic ties and exchanges between Dandong and the Yangtze River delta area.
On June 30, a grand ceremony was held at Dandong Airport marking the maiden voyage.
