Lending libraries enrich the lives of rural workers in NE China

A ceremony was held in the city of Changchun, Jilin province to announce the opening of 10 lending libraries for rural workers, on Oct 26, according to a Jilin Daily report, which notes that it's part of a larger nationwide project to enrich the lives of migrant workers, to cultivate reading habits, and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.
The organizers of the project say that their goal is 100 of these lending libraries by the end of 2016, with 30,000 books, mainly on laws, science, health, and life in Changchun, in places where migrant workers congregate, at a cost of 1-million yuan ($160,000).

Taking part in the opening ceremony were representatives of the Jilin Federation of Trade Unions, Jilin Press and Publication, Radio and Television Department, Jilin Finance Department, company labor unions, and migrant workers, with a member of the Jilin Federation of Trade Unions, Guo Xiwu, commenting, "We want to save migrant workers the trouble of buying books themselves, and to protect their right to enjoy public services."
Other places nationwide with this service are the city of Tianjin and cities in provinces like Jiangsu and Shandong.
