Songyuan residents get easier access to fitness facilities

Songyuan, a city in Northeast China’s Jilin province, has installed more than 2,000 fitness facilities in community residences, according to its local publicity authority on Oct 11.
The installation project was launched early this year, and was recently completed. The governmental move brings the average area for sports to 1.75 square meters per person.
People can access the various fitness facilities in their neighborhood within a five-minute walk.
The government has invested much in promoting sports and fitness exercises in society, including field surveys in communities and coordination with different departments, such as the local finance sector.
As well as the funding from government, Songyuan city also called for investment from private sectors.
Additionally, the city has established a sound bidding system to ensure that all the facilities are the most cost-effective.
