Tourism development leads to wealth in Jiangxi

In 2011, Jiangxi received up to 160 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 47.8 percent. With growth topping the country, its total tourism revenue amounted to 110.6 billion yuan ($17.4 billion), up 35.15 percent from the previous year, ranking the fourth in China.

Tourism in Jiangxi has become a forerunner in the tertiary industry and is one of the pillar industries boosting the economic development of the province.

The Jiangxi government urged that an integrated transformation and upgrading of the Jiangxi tourism industry be implemented to improve the tourism system and promote the tertiary industry. The province aims to develop tourism to boost social and economic growth during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
