The opening ceremony of the 2018 Zhangjiagang poetry festival was held at Xiangshan Scenic Area on March 3.

A group of children dressed in traditional Chinese clothing stood or kneeled on futons on the stage reciting poems, which definitely drew visitors’ attention; a good beginning to the poetry festival.

Lu Feng, deputy director of the Suzhou Travel Bureau, Li Zhaowei, deputy mayor of Zhangjiagang city and Cai Caihong, director of the Zhangjiagang Travel Bureau attended the opening ceremony and invited tourists across the country to enjoy historical Chinese poetic culture and flower-rich Zhangjiagang in the early spring.

Xiangshan is a scenic spot in Zhangjiagang city featuring several attractions such as the Xiangshan historical cultural exhibition hall, cherry blossom garden, plum hill and Xiangshan Garden.

Visitors can not only enjoy plum flowers in the region, but participate in various themed travel festivals to be held through the whole year, such as a wedding dress show, a mountain marathon competition and an autumn leaf festival.

The event was organized by the Zhangjiagang Travel Bureau and Tongcheng Tourism Group.
