Akcome Group, a Zhangjiagang-based new energy company, was ranked 46th in the "2016 Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises" on Dec 6, rising from 57th in last year's rankings.

Established in March 2006, the company is a leader in China's new energy field, and its rise in the ranks is not by chance, but is down to a significant rise in annual sales, which is what the rankings are based on. Total annual sales for "Top 500" firms in 2015 reached an unprecedented high of 3,066 billion yuan ($ 443.7 billion).

Initiated in 2011, the rankings are organized annually by China Energy News and China Institute of Energy Economics Research; both are affiliated with the People's Daily and supported by the National Energy Commission and National Energy Administration.

And this year's awarding ceremony held on Dec 6, as well as the 2016 New Energy Development Summit, held in Wuhan city, capital of Central China's Hubei province, attracted more than 500 attendees from government agencies and leading new energy enterprises from both home and abroad.
