A media company and a local farm in the city of Zhangjiagang recently sealed a deal marking the arrival of a brand new "Internet + Agriculture" era.

Jiangsu Zhanwang Entertainment Media Company and Zhangjiagang Huatian Family Farm have agreed to cooperate in the development of modern agricultural products and the construction of an e-commerce platform to facilitate sales to a wider market.

The "Internet + Agriculture" initiative is designed to use the latest in modern technology to break down the barriers between supply and demand in the agricultural sector. With the help of advanced information technology such as mobile Internet, big data, cloud computing and IOT (Internet of Things), farmers will be able to access bigger markets, facilitate easier distribution, process payments and increase production efficiency.

Integrated management has become possible and is pushing the intensive development of the rural economy. Quality safety of agricultural products can now be traced by using QR codes so that customers are able to obtain information covering the whole production chain.

The mode of "Internet + Agriculture" has played a significant role in the advancement of agricultural industry and become the new motivation in rural development, said a local official.
