The average disposable income in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province was 35,180 yuan ($5,664) per person in 2013, according to the Zhangjiagang bureau of statistics. It is the first time the city has released such data.

According to an official from the National Bureau of Statistics, Zhangjiagang survey office, resident income will no longer be separated into disposable income of urban residents and income of rural residents. Disposable income of all the residents will be released instead.

The two numbers are different in three aspects. First, more people will be included in the census, such as those living in the area between the city and the countryside. Second, income of residents in rural and urban areas will be counted in the same way. Third, income of migrant workers will be counted based on residence rather than the place of household registration.
