Dongdu Yuan Scenic Area is located in the new river port city of Zhangjiagang, which neighbors shanghai in the south, the Yangtze River in the north and the Jiangyin Yangtze Bridge in the west. The scenic area is based on the cultural heritage, Ancient Huangsi River, where Jianzhen, a famous Chinese monk, started his last and only successful voyage to Japan.

There are splendid forests, elegant pavilions, rare calligraphy by famous artist Guo Moruo and a bronze figure of Jianzhen in the park. It has become one of the most important China-Japan communication bases. Over 150,000 Japanese visitors come here annually.
