The first China Hospital Internet of Things Conference was held in Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center on Oct 19-21.

Covering an area of 26,000 square meters, the exhibition was themed "Infinite IoT, Healthy China" and was divided into six areas featuring the latest internet of things (IoT) technologies and products in medical care.

A total of 522 exhibitors from 21 countries showcased their medical products integrating big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligent and IoT, including automatic delivery robots such as Tmi and Noah.

The Noahs, which are based at the Guangzhou Women and Children Medical Center, in the capital of South China's Guangdong Province, currently operate between the pharmacy and the nurses’ station.

The hospital estimates the machines will save nurses up to 1,207 miles of walking every year.

Also, the intelligent Noah bots are programmed with phrases such as "Here I go!", "I'm entering the lift!" and "I've been obstructed!" to notify their human colleagues throughout the day.

Another benefit of using such robots includes sanitation, as the wheeled and lockable cabinet hauled around by the robots guarantees contamination-free transport of vital hospital equipment and medication, further lowering the risk of human error.

Besides medical robots, a number of hospitals, such as Wuxi No 3 People's Hospital, have applied various high-end technologies to achieve intelligent management of ward nursing systems, operation rooms and apps offering medical services.

The China Hospital Internet of Things Conference will take place in Wuxi once a year, providing a platform for equipment makers to display their products. The China Association of Medical Equipment has decided to build an IoT medical industry base in Wuxi.
