Some 160 photographs depicting the daily lives of Chinese people throughout history were shown at an exhibition under the theme of "Chinese Dream", which kicked off in Baotou on Oct 29, according to Baotou Daily.

The photographs displayed at the exhibition concern various aspects of daily life, documenting changes in people's food, clothes, and daily necessities. They cover 150 years of Chinese history, with the oldest being taken around 1868, and the most recent being taken in 2014.

The photographs seem to have struck a chord with visitors, reinforcing the collective national memory.

Trivial as many of the scenes are, it is the little changes that have induced so much progress in China over the past 150 years.

"The photos show the self-discipline and toughness of ordinary people, with whose effort the country is thriving," said Li Shufeng, one of the top officials at the Chinese National Academy of Arts.

Hosted by the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Inner Mongolia Photographers Association, Inner Mongolia Photography Society, and the Baotou Literature and Arts Association, the exhibition will tour 15 cities in China, including Baotou, Lanzhou and Ningbo.

Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is the first stop for the exhibition, as it boasts excellent local photographers like Bao Naiyong and Li Enzhong. Also, the city is rich in cultural resources and has multiple exhibition centers.
