Kaihui town listed as leisure agriculture demonstration area

Kaihui town was selected as Changsha county's only leisure agriculture demonstration town on Jan 31 by the Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province.
Kaihui town is the hometown of Yang Kaihui, the beloved wife of President Mao Zedong, and Miao Boying, the very first female member of the Communist Party of China. It has a variety of cultural relics and historical sites, such as the Yang Kaihui Memorial Hall, the Former Residence of Miao Boying, General Peng Mai's Tomb, the Former Site of Hunan's First Rural CPC Branch, Piaofeng Tower and Xiangfeng Temple.
The town has been awarded over 100 national titles, including National Ecology Town, Special Tourism Town of Hunan, the Best Travel Destination of Hunan, the Most Beautiful Town of Changsha, and a Top 10 Changsha Town for Rural Environment Renovation.
The honor of being named a demonstration town also went to four other towns in Changsha: Xuehua village of Yuelu district, Jinggang town of Wangcheng district, Dongmen village of Liuyang city and Huitang town of Ningxiang city.
In addition, the Golden Well Tea and Tourism Industrial Park, also known as the Changsha County Golden Well Tea Factory, won the title of "Leisure Agriculture Demonstration Farm".
Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production
In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
