On Sept 20, Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town held a press conference to unveil its brand to the general public.

Zhang Dahua, director of the provincial tourism administration, attended the ceremony along with other officials. Zhang knocked on chimes to officially open the Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town project.

Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town is located in the northern bank of the Donghu ecological tourism scenic zone. Occupying a land of 3,167 mu, it is a large-scale ecological and cultural tourism project integrating a cultural park, metropolis entertainment, theme hotels, and cultural and artistic facilities. The project has a cultural park cluster with the Happy Valley as the core. It comprises of four theme parks, four cultural centers, two theme hotels and one international cultural harbor.

The Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town cultural tourism project is the first large ecological cultural theme park cultivated by Overseas Chinese Town Group, a state-owned company, with big investments in the central China area. It introduces first-class high-tech recreational facilities, offers aquatic activities and presents performance programs from Hubei province.

So far, Overseas Chinese Town Group has set up Happy Valleys in Shenzhen, Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai. Senior officials of the group say Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town theme park will not be a simple clone of similar projects in the four cities. The Wuhan project is promoted as a world-class scenic and cultural tourist destination. It will be built into the bustling downtown area of China’s largest recreational center.

The first stage of the Happy Valley project is almost complete in Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town. It will open for operation for the May 1 Holiday next year.

From May 1, 2012, the four parks and centers of Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town will be open to customers. By that time, Wuhan Overseas Chinese Town is expected to become a new landmark of central China tourism and Wuhan will play a more significant role to facilitate tourism in the central China area.
