Damming successfully completes for Cambodia Kamchay Hydropower Station

On Dec 28, river closure and damming of Upper Cambodia Kamchay Hydropower Station undertaken by CGGC was successfully completed, symbolizing the commencement of the phase of major works construction.
Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, attended the ceremony and threw the cornerstone tied with red silk into the closure gap with his own hands.
The ceremony was also attended by Suy Sem, Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy of Cambodia, Mining and Forestry, Pan Guangxue, ambassador of PRC in the Kingdom of Cambodia and Xing Deyong, vice general manager of CGGC.
Kamchay Hydropower Station is known to be the largest water resource project in the Kingdom of Cambodia, the upper dam of which is a concrete faced rock-fill dam with normal pool level of 263 meters, maximum dam height of 124 meters, total reservoir capacity of 401,800,00015000m3 and installed capacity of 2,103,000KW.
CGGC is exclusively responsible for the construction of the upper and lower dams. For this time of river closure, one-time river closure by flow cut-off with cofferdam is used, realizing water retaining with cofferdam and drainage with river diversion tunnel in dry season, and temporary water-retaining cross-section for dam body, drainage with river diversion tunnel and permanent spillway and diversion via year-round foundation pit construction in flood season.
