Works of art of China's five famous porcelain kilns are on display in Beijing this week.
The exhibition, titled China's Five Famous Porcelain Kilns and Elegant Works of Modern China’s Arts and Crafts Masters, started on Monday and will last for one week.
In the Song Dynasty (960-1279), there were five famous porcelain kilns: Ru Kiln, Guan Kiln, Jun Kiln, Ge Kilin and Ding Kiln, which have been passed down from generation to generation.
More than 50 pieces of artwork from the five famous porcelain kilns made by 30 masters are on exhibit. The exhibition will be on display later in Hangzhou, Taiyuan and Xi'an.
The exhibition tells the history of China's five porcelain kilns as well as their current situation. It is also the biggest exhibition featuring the five porcelain kilns in recent years.
The exhibition is co-held by the China Arts and Crafts Association and China National Arts & Crafts (Group) Cooperation.
Wang Zhenfang, a master of Ru porcelain, was invited to display her work and give a speech. She discussed Ru porcelain's development process and her understanding of porcelain cultures in the Song Dynasty. Ten of her works are on display, showing all the latest innovative ideas about Ru porcelain culture.
During the exhibitions, experts and scholars will also hold conferences to discuss the future development of the porcelain industry and how to revive the vitality of porcelain.
