For the 30th International Day for Consumers' Rights and Interests, a press conference was held with the theme of "Consumption and Safety" at the Ruzhou Tianrui Hotel on March 13.
The following were in attendance at the conference: Ruzhou city leaders from the Price Bureau; Food and Drug Administration; Judicial Bureau; Public Security Bureau; City Court; Commercial Bureau; Civil Affairs Bureau; Health Bureau; Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision; Travel Bureau; Information Centre; Agricultural Bureau; and Bureau of Radio and Television.
Hu Xinzheng, deputy secretary of the Ruzhou municipal government, hosted the conference. Cui Xinfa, honorary president of the Ruzhou Consumer Association, declared the opening of the conference. Pan Guangchen, director of Ruzhou Industrial and Commercial Bureau, delivered the working report of 2011 and introduced the measures to protect consumers' right and interest.
Hu Hongxian, vice-mayor of Ruzhou, made an important speech and said that the government should stress the expansion of domestic demand. Secondly, the government must adapt to the new patterns of consumption. Lastly, the government should play a leading role in guiding new consumption concepts. The “12315” Consumer Complaint Center and Industrial and Commercial Department should inflict severe punishment on bogus products in order to create a good market environment for consumers.
Leaders from the Industrial and Commercial Bureau, Building and Construction Bureau, Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, Agricultural Bureau, Food and Drug Administration, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, Laocheng Mall and China Home Application Association, answered the questions raised by the reporters.
According to the conference introduction, Ruzhou Consumer Association received 278 cases of consumer complaints in 2011 and 269 cases were solved successfully. The redemptive economic value accounted for 356 million yuan (56.31 million US dollar).
