Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, aims to establish a household garbage sorting system in 2020.
According to the requirements, Guiyang will finish the implementation plan of household garbage sorting by the end of 2019, which will set the standards, targets, policies, and measures for household garbage sorting.
Guiyang aims to improve the utilization rate of household garbage to reach 20 percent, as well as the classification and recovery rate of hazerdous waste to reach 50 percent by the end of this year.
In addition, Guiyang will establish 80 demonstration areas of household garbage sorting, covering all Party and government departments, enterprises, institutions, and schools.
By 2022, Guiyang will have at least one district fully realize household garbage sorting, and other districts will have at least one community become a demonstration area of household garbage sorting. By 2025, Guiyang will establish the overall household garbage sorting system.
School education will be needed to cultivate good habits and civic awareness of household garbage sorting, with voluntary activities arranged to entice theactive participation of all family members.
