The opening ceremony of Guizhou province's 12th People's Congress's 4th Session took place on Jan 26 in the city of Guiyang city, with the government reporting Guizhou's production output as amounting to 1.05 trillion yuan ($159.6 billion) in 2015, for an annual growth of 12.5 percent, putting it among the country's top three for five consecutive years.
In commenting on this development, Lu Qilun, head of the provincial Development and Reform Commission's economic department, remarked, "Guizhou's economic development can be attributed to national and local policies and reform," while a government work report noted that the province aims to get the production rate to increase by 10 percent in 2016 with greater investment.
The province says it expects to maintain growth during the 13th Five-year Plan (2016-2020) and to make the best of big data, tourism and the ecology and to make every effort to reduce poverty, add infrastructure and promote education and medical care.
