A vegetable base in Southwest China's Guizhou province agreed to an intention to turn over more than 200,000 metric tons of vegetables for vegetable collection and distribution at a signing ceremony that was held in the province's Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Park on Oct 28.
Guided by the Guiyang bureau of commerce and the Guiyang department of agricultural and rural affairs, the event was attended by representatives from more than 500 vegetable bases, over 100 colleges and group-catering enterprises, as well as more than 40 department stores and markets across Guizhou.
A public welfare agricultural products management company was also established at the ceremony, aiming to become a modern integrated platform for the procurement, sorting, processing, and delivery of agricultural products in Guiyang.
"Now the vegetable base we possess is more than 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares), which can produce more than 40 varieties of vegetables each year, with an annual production of about 30,000 tons. Through cooperation with the management company, we will be able to reduce our costs, and improve our competitiveness and earnings," said Zhang Hong, chairman of a local Guiyang agricultural company.
