The ranking of Guiyang National High-tech Zone jumped from 56 in 2013 to 40 in 2018, increasing by 16 places over the past six years.
According to the evaluation results released by the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the high-tech zone's "knowledge creation and technological innovation capability" and "industry upgrading and structural optimization capability" both reached the top 50 in the country, ranking 36th and 37th respectively.
The assessment targets included 156 national high-tech zones and Suzhou Industrial Park. Guiyang High-tech Zone's ranking has continued to increase since last year.
The zone's "internationalization and participation in global competitiveness" and "sustainability" also placed 71st and 75th respectively.
In recent years, the zone has performed well in building R&D platforms, attracting investment from enterprises, creating industrial value and cultivating innovative leading enterprises, providing room for improvement in business operation and international talent pooling.
