Guizhou province has put 5.74 billion yuan ($91.89 million) from 2011 to 2013 in preschool education, as reported at the launching ceremony of the Guizhou provincial preschool education month.
According to the State Council, governments at all levels shall pay attention to preschool education. In 2014, Zhao Kezhi, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, said that Guizhou will popularize the 15-year compulsory education by 2018. Zhao continued, preschool education is an important part of the national education system, and it is a fundamental project to promote human development.
Li Qiyong, deputy director-general of the Guizhou Provincial Education Department, said that Guizhou has put 5.74 billion yuan in preschool education by adding 2,552 public and private kindergartens and hiring 16,400 more teachers.
Li said that the improvement of preschool education in Guizhou includes both hardware and software upgrades.
Chen Guofang, a kindergarten teacher with 14 years of experience, said that in previous years, preschool education's focus was on knowledge and understanding, but now it has put focus on what children really want.
Chen continued that kindergarten shall be a place that children learn to listen and communicate, instead of learning by routine.
