Pingtan finished installation of its first steelboxed cofferdam for the highway-railway bridge of the Fuzhou-Pingtan high-speed rail on Nov 8.

The cofferdam is 32.52 meters long, 16.12 meters wide and 10.5 meters high with 14 holes under the cofferdam that match with the No 26 bridge pier of the Beidongkou Water Channel Bridge. It passed a standard test on the day.

Using special advanced technology, China Zhongtie Major Bridge Engineering Group Co (MBEC) strengthened the anti-wind and anti-wave ability of the cofferdam.

The installation of the cofferdam is used for waterproofing and is key to the construction of the Beidongkou Water Channel Bridge.

Chinese President Xi Jinping investigated Pingtan on Nov 1. His encouragement and affirmation accelerated the construction in Pingtan.
