Taiwan’s Eastern Television (ETTV) conducted an interview with Li Dejin, director of the administrative committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ), in Taipei on April 5.

Li was on a promotional tour in Taiwan, his first one since taking office in the PCPZ in late October.

He introduced Pingtan’s development over the past few years and the continuous favorable polices it has rolled out for Taiwan’s entrepreneurs.

“Pingtan is Fujian province’s largest island and the closet place to Taiwan, with a distance of only 125 kilometers to Hsinchu. Once a small fishing village, it has grown a new image after comprehensive construction in many fields,” he said.

“Although the infrastructure conditions of Pingtan still need improvement, we are confident of its potential and sincerely invite our Taiwanese compatriots to visit Pingtan,” he added.

Li then talked about the development situation, cross-Strait direct flights, industrial cooperation and preferential policy implementation during the 15-minute interview.

In the program, EETV highlighted Pingtan as the mainland’s first pilot zone opening to Taiwan with plenty of favorable polices and a future free trade port resonating with other trade ports in Taiwan.

The program was broadcast in Pingtan on April 4, and is also expected to be aired in Taiwan soon.
