Pingnan strives to better serve locals

Pingnan county is introducing and comprehensively implementing three service systems at county and town levels: the registration system based on the actual conditions of the people, an agent service system, and a linked-up helping system, so as to connect and improve work for the public within “the last mile”.

In the registration system based on the actual conditions of the people, thousands of officials in the county will go into the villages which are linked with certain government departments, and conduct interviews from house to house in order to make a thorough record of the production and living conditions, and appeals, opinions and suggestions of local people.

In the agent service system, the county is going to set up some offices in villages where officials at county and township level and members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference at village level will serve as agents to solve problems such as license applications and policy advice in local people’s actual day-to-day living.

In the linked-up help system, the county has confirmed that the heads of county and department level will be linked to, and in charge of, a county, a village, a family which has complied with family planning regulations and a family with disabled family members respectively.

Departments directly under the county government authority will also be linked to, and in charge of, a village and a family with disabled family members respectively; officials at vice-section-level or above will be linked to, and in charge of, a poor family which has complied with family planning regulations, and make friends with these families by sending contact cards, establishing a record file of the living conditions of these families, and solving practical problems for these families.

The county has now supported and aided 1000 families, distributed nearly 1,000,000 yuan ($160,100) in funding for consolation, solved 3,000 production and living problems, and put in place 100 million yuan of support for poor families.
