A man, 45, was detained after the accident. He is the owner of the restaurant and boss of 7 employees. The bottled gas supplier Xingtai Liquefied Gas Co., Ltd is also being held responsible for the accident.
The initial assessment report revealed the accident affected an area of about 150 square meters, causing direct economic loss of about 266,000 yuan.
One of the three injured is still receiving treatment in ICU and the other two are in stable condition.
According to reports, Xiamen has seen four gas tank explosion accidents in the past five months alone.
Since September, the city has busted about 2,000 illegal gas tanks in a citywide gas tank safety campaign, and data revealed there are 370,000 gas tank users in Xiamen and 119 bottled gas suppliers.
