Preparations for the 6th Straits Forum is in a critical stage. Su Shulin, governor of Fujian province, checked on the work in Xiamen on May 27.

The purposes of the Straits Forum are to expand non-government exchanges, strengthen cross-Straits cooperation and promote common development. This year’s forum will be from June 14 to 21 in Xiamen.

Su stressed that related departments at all levels must implement orders from Beijing and the provincial party committee, and enhance the sense of mission in order to host a successful forum.

People on both sides of the Straits can increase mutual understanding and close the distance through the forum, he added.
